Look deep inside yourself. That’s where the magical spirit intelligence is revealed. The more you look, the more you realise that your conscious mind isn’t always in control. The moments of inspirational ideas, the ‘gut’ feelings that guide you from danger, that sense of already knowing a stranger, all live in the subconscious mind.
You are not alone. Deep inside your subconscious mind, your own spirit is working hard to give you guidance, wisdom, knowledge and answers to important questions. Look deeper, stay there longer, and the spirit intelligence from those both here and those who have gone before us may clothe your thoughts.
Yet nobody can locate the origin of a thought. It appears to be existential to the body and beyond our internal cellular network. It is without flesh (discarnate) and indestructible. After all, how can we cancel a thought that has arisen? We can’t ‘unthink’ anything. The best we can do is to either forget it, change it, or ignore it — but it is out there somewhere and is beyond cancellation. Yet along with thoughts are our subconscious feelings.
Many will come to know their ‘gut feelings’ as their intuition. Intuition has fields of intelligence and an awareness beyond memories, consensus, and associated experiences. It knows what to say and do. It knows beyond an earthly existence, what is happening now in our physical world. It knows that life is spirit, that responds to, reacts, knows the right time to reveal its presence and how best to achieve this.
Over my years as an ‘evidential’ medium, an intuitive and a teacher, my quest has been attempting to explore and understand spirit intelligence.
I have sought to define for my own needs and those I have taught any elusive boundary between intuition (psychic) and genuine afterlife communication (evidential). The psychic and evidential communications are so closely related that the differences may be confused or incorrectly attributed. I couldn’t have continued my work honestly, if someone believed I had communicated with their deceased loved ones — when I didn’t have that certainty myself. Giving false hope was never an option and a fear the most genuinely motivated mediums I know, encounter.
The benchmark for many mediums is the ‘presence of spirit.’ The absence or presence of an ‘atmospheric’ power being the defining factor. This atmosphere feels emotional. Many comment that when it is present, they feel goosebumps on the skin and a change in temperature. Yet we may explain all this in neuroscience, with the functioning of the limbic system and our fight, flight or freeze reactions to emotional events.
Mention the word spider to someone with arachnophobia and the limbic system kicks into action to raise their heart rate, increase sweat and up pop those goosebumps! Mention the possibility of a dearly loved deceased person and exactly the same could happen too! Defining presence is as elusive as its absence.
It is also possible to experience the signs of an atmosphere of ‘presence’ through intuition, by giving a tarot card reading. Could this ‘presence of spirit’ be a simple manifestation of emotion? Are mediums manifesting something we ‘call’ intelligence when, in reality, we have tapped into a natural emotional phenomenon with cause and effect?
My conclusions at this point within my knowledge and experience, are that when we analyse from an experiential perspective, we require more than a sense of ‘presence’ — we also need two major fields of spirit intelligence.
The first field of spirit intelligence is the emotional. This is where the spirit reveals an awareness of self and of others.
The second field of intelligence is social, and the spirit reveals a knowing of what to say, do, or both.
A brilliant teacher said, “I don’t care if its psychic or evidential — it’s all from the spirit.” For spirit embodies timeless life. The delusion is when it can only be only one or the other.
My own conclusion is that spirit is all around us and within us. It is in all things and is the living intelligence, wisdom, creativity, and perfect divine order of existence.
